Kill Your Idols – From Companionship To Competition (For fans of Negative Approach, Kid Dynamite, Black Flag)

If you’re familiar with NY hardcore at all, chances are you know Kill Your Idols.  The Long Island group have brought their punk blended hardcore to a small but incredibly rabid fanbase before disbanding in 2007 (although they are playing a reunion show with Kid Dynamite here in Philly soon… stoked.)  Before they parted though, they left us with their third and final full length From Companionship To Competition.

On FCTC, Kill Your Idols play incredibly aggressive hardcore, and on this album they are EXTREMELY pissed.  Yet even with Andy’s incredibly gruffy and harsh vocals the band manage to remain catchy, as proven on tracks such as “I’ll Call You Back” and “Miserable And Satisfied”.

If you dig hardcore, Kill Your Idols are a stellar band that you need to listen to.  While many hardcore bands (especially those from NY) tended to lean towards heavy breakdowns, Kill Your Idols keep it incredibly fast and melodic.  Check it.
